Gordon Wyant was born and raised in Saskatoon. He attended Grosvenor Park Elementary School and graduated from Evan Hardy Collegiate. Gord completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree with Distinction in 1985, and convocated from the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in 1986.

Gord began practicing law in 1986 with the law firm of McKercher LLP, where he is currently practising as a partner. He has served the community in a number of capacities including the Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the United Way of Saskatoon and founding director of the Children’s Health Foundation of Saskatchewan. For the Saskatoon Public School Division he was elected as a Trustee in 2000 and served as Chairman of the Board from October 2001 to October 2003.

Gord was elected as City Councillor for Ward 5 in 2003 and was re-elected in 2006. He has served on numerous committees of council including chairing the Planning and Operations Committee since 2006 and serving on two standing committees on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. He was awarded his Queen's Council designation by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan in 2009.

Gord is married to Christine Hrudka and has two children, Allison and Stephen, and two stepchildren, Jeremy and Kayla.

Gord received an award for highest standing at the 1987 Bar Admission Course, and is the proud recipient of the Sterling Writing Award for Non-Fiction, awarded in 1999.

In addition to his family, Gord enjoys writing, skiing and motorcycling.
